On 4th of February 658 Noctule bats were rescued during the repair of a balkony in Dnipro city (Central Ukraine).
Few days later bats successfully reached the Bat Rehabilitation Center – the only in Ukraine!
We are very grateful to all who took part in the rescue operation!
During 10 hours, our bat specialists carefully handled each rescued bat, inspected, weighed, ringed and water it. In general, they are in good body conditions, only 120 individuals need insect feeding to gain fat reserves and then will hibernate in the cold conditions (in our refrigerators) until spring.
2,700 bats are currently in our Bat Rehabilitation Center 
And every week we buy 5 kg of insects to feed the weakened bats! 9 bats from this group had special bat rings on their wings! We ringed them previous year, when we also saved almost 1,000 bats in the Dnipro (people wanted to get rid of them because of the noise on the balcony), kept them during the winter and returned them to the Dnipro in the spring and released.
